Using your books as a divination tool

Bibliomancy is all about using books for divination. 

The term is derived from the Greek words “biblio,” meaning book, and “manteia,” meaning divination. Historically, this practice involved various religious or spiritual texts like the Bible, the Quran, or the I Ching. 

Today we can use just about any book, although some practitioners believe one that has significance to you may provide a more accurate result. 

1. Formulate Your Question:  Be specific, as this will help you focus on seeking a relevant answer.

2. Concentrate and Open the Book: Sit in a calm and quiet place and focus your mind on the question at hand. Hold the closed book in your hands and concentrate on your query.

3. Randomly Open the Book: With your eyes closed or averted, open the book at a random page. Use your intuition or any method of random selection (like flipping the pages and stopping at a random point) to open the book.

4. Interpret: Read the passage you’ve landed on carefully. Reflect on its meaning and relevance to your question. Look for symbolism, metaphor, or any connection to your inquiry. 

5. Finding Meaning: Interpret the passage based on your intuition and the context of your question. The interpretation might offer insights, guidance, or a symbolic representation of the answer you seek.
